Dimarzio DP240 vs. Seymour Duncan SM1N for Nashville Tele neck

I'm starting to renovate my stock Nashville tele--not a big fan of the Tex-Mex )or whatever they're called) pickups. First item is to put a mini humbucker in the neck; already got the appropriate pickguard so now its deciding on options. I figure a mini humbucker that drops right into the pickguard cutout. The Dimarzio is ceramic and SD is A5, both are wound in the low 6K range.

So... inquiring minds want to know who's using what as a neck mini-HB, and anyone had an opportunity to try both of the above, or is there another mini-HB worth considering?

Cheers, David

My local pickup shop didn't have the Duncan Antiquity that I wanted, so I went with the DiMarzio mini in the neck of my thinline. Honestly, it sounds fantastic and is exactly what I wanted in terms of tone. It's not muddy at all and retains a surprising amount of clarity.

any firebird pup shouldnt be muddy, i use the antiquity II in my tele and love it! the sm1 is nice too. havent tried the dimarzio

Thanks for the feedback so far. FYI I'm mainly playing alt country these days, so the neck bucker should have some girth but good clarity/top end (please, not as muddy as a full size HB), and balance well with mid and neck (thinking JD); I use relatively low gain (think Timmy). Also considering a 'standard' mini HB w polepieces vs. Firebird format.

the firebird style is snottier but glorious. the lp deluxe style mini humbucker is more polite but also a fine pup. the construction is very different and the tone is as well but both are tighter on the bottom than a full size bucker. as long as you stay near the vintage end of the spectrum you should match with the jd just fine.

I like the SM1n in my tele. I wouldn't want it hotter or ceramic, because vintage output A5 has a sweeter neck tone.

Jerry Donahue/SM1N will be a great set for a tele.
