DiMarzio EJ Custom humbuckers for 70's rock?

I currently have Sheptone Heartbreakers in my Gibson SG Special. I want more chime and harmonics. How would a set of Eric Johnson Customs work for Malcolm Young and 70's rock tones like Nazareth, Kansas, Foghat, Scorpions? Amp is a Traynor YBA-1 tweaked closer metal panel Marshall than plexi Marshall tone stack, filtering, etc. Using a 4x12 cabinet with Marshall Vintage Celestion V30's.

Malcolm is most strongly associated with a semi-hollow guitar. The DiMarzio EJ 'buckers were intended to sound like Gretsch 'Trons but I am not sure that they succeed. Luckily for you, TV Jones offers his range of 'Tron inspired pickups in regular humbucker-sized casings.

I have a couple of TV jones filtertrons & they're fine pups.
Malcolm's sound is a lot cleaner than you'd think so low output tv jones would probably get you there.
I'd check the dimensions first as I assume the special is P90 loaded?
There may be a suitable mounting ring available, there is an 'english mount' adaptor from tv jones where you can fit filtertrons into HB routs cleanly

I have an EJ custom in the bridge of my ES-335 copy. In my Semi Hollow body, it sounds big and open. The reduced output really opens the PU up. It sounds bold and refined. However, it sounds nothing like a filtertron.

If you want a 70's crunch sound in a filtertron, try a TV Jones. I'm going to put one into my 335 eventually.
