Dimarzio Evolution...

mustaine-who?

Who's used one in basswood? Thoughts? I'm a long time SD Full Shred user, and recently fell in love with the Crunch Lab. But I've heard some say they prefer the Evo to the CL.

Re: Dimarzio Evolution...

I've used one in Basswood but it's quite some time ago. From what I remember it was very tight. Its low end is fast and leaves no tail, I was surprised. I mean the real bass frequencies, when you turn the bass up on the amp, it stays very tight unlike other pickups that are tight only in the mids and highs. Not many pickups do that.

It also has nice mids but they're very dense sounding. No hollowness or deepness in the mids here.

A nice pickup overall.

edit: and has a rapid thrashy crunch.

It's only the best pickup in the WORLD.

And I just so happen to have one for sale. :naughty:

This.

And its SUPER articulate. You can hear everything. It'll show if you're a poop player.

Had mine in a basswood rg with a PAF Pro in the neck. Had me in Jason Becker heaven!

Re: Dimarzio Evolution...

I used to have them in a basswood RG550, and I ended up taking them out after a couple of years. They were tight to the point of being stiff. Not forgiving, sure, but not very pleasant-sounding, either.

I like them better in my mahogany RG520. There's a chewiness that makes it more fun to dig in.

Re: Dimarzio Evolution...

It's been in basswood the whole time, dummy...The white Ibanez Jems are basswood from the beginning.

Re: Dimarzio Evolution...

Jem7bsb & Jem10th had Evo's w/basswood, but there's not a lot of those around. The big production Evo equipped mainstay has been the alder 7v.

Re: Dimarzio Evolution...

I like em. They are tight and bright, with good treble and high mids. I've used them in both basswood and mahogany.
