Dimarzio Fred vs. the classic Gibson PAF design

Not sure I ever played a Fred... at least not in recent years.
How much is its design different than the classic Gibson PAF design? mainly in terms of tone and response... I can see that at least the screws are different...
And how well does the Fred works in non-Floyd Rose guitars and for stuff that are not, well, Satriani? i.e. classic rock riffing, blues soloing, etc...

Nothing like a PAF. Fred's are 10K and have significantly different resistance in their coils. Going from memory I think it's something like 3.5K and 6.5K. An offset that big (reminiscent of the '59/Custom hybrid) makes for a bright clear PU. I used one Fred to make a couple hybrids out of, the other I put a warmer magnet in.

The Fred has a lot more midrange than the classical Paf pu.

The Fred is alright.

I like the Mo Joe better.
