Dimarzio Mini-Hums in St. Vincent Sig Model

I'm going to get the Sterling version of the St Vincent signature model and I would like to have pickups that closely match the custom Mini-Hums from Dimarzio. On the Dimarzio website they only have their vintage model for sale. Can anyone tell me if those match the sound of the guitar or know of a SD equivalent? I may keep the pickups in it but I like having the option. BTW the signature version from EBBM is almost 2k while the Sterling is $600 USD.

Here's a vid from Youtube of it. Thanks in advance. Skip to 33 seconds (wont' let me post it that way on forum).

I don’t care for that guitar at all. The aesthetic just doesn’t work for me. I’m sure it’s a good guitar nonetheless.

I'm a smaller person with smaller hands and the body style appeals to me. I've always wanted an explorer/iceman shape guitar but wanted one that felt good sitting down too. I do wish it had a different headstock tho. The EBMM model has a full rosewood neck.

In answer to the OP, I'd try the stock units first to see if they sound nice. (in the video, it sounds great)
I can't recommend any Duncan mini-hums - I'm haven't heard enough of them to make an informed choice.
Good luck!

Must comment on the guitar - it's an innovative style, and I like it.
Would look great in blue sunburst or dark red, with a pearloid pickguard.

The full price signature version has a few different colors. They have white on white, solid black (hardware and all), Tobacco Burst and Red with White Pickguard and Gold Hardware. Unfortunately the Sterling one which is about a fourth of the price is only available in the hand-mixed blue she did.

Do you know the specs of the DiMarzio minis that are in it?

There's 3 different Duncan Firebird-style minis and a couple Duncan Les Paul minis, all slightly different. I have experience with the Duncan Firebird minis but can't recommend without knowing what the DiMarzios are; if they are made like Firebird pickups or something else in a Firebird cover.

If they are a special signature pickup, they'd know the specs at the Music Man forum. I haven't seen or tried one yet. Music Man is my favorite brand of guitars, but I am not so sure of the aesthetic of this particular model. I do appreciate that it is like nothing else out there, though.

Re: Dimarzio Mini-Hums in St. Vincent Sig Model

Have played a couple, I love the wide thin neck-

I had imagined I would love 3 minis, because I love minis in so many guitars, however, there was little of the tight focused sound that is why I love minis (and firebirds). Also didn't get any quack and for me that's the purpose of a center pup (can't remember how the middle was wired).

So a pup change would be high on my list because the guitar sounded great unplugged- Lollar makes some killer firebirds if you are after the brighter side and I would imagine bridge mini with middle and neck Fbird could sound really nice.
