DiMarzio Super Distortion vs. Duncan

Hi All:
Just wondering how the DiMarzio Super Distortion compares to Duncan pickups.
What, if any, Duncan pickup does it compare to? I'm not real excited about my Super Distortion and am thinking about a replacement. I like the SD when its wired parallel, but not real excited about it in series. I replaced a prettly lame stock epi humbucker with the Super Distortion, but I probably went to far and now want something in between the two. Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: DiMarzio Super Distortion vs. Duncan

When I got my '87 LP Custom, the guy had Super Distortions in it. I ripped them out and put in Antiquities as fast as I could. The DiMarzio's were horrible. Honestly, the Gibson 500T is a better sounding pup. A Duncan Custom or Distortion should do the trick.

Yup, actually i would like the webmaster on this site to lay in a new "ottoish" autocensor for the word Dimarzio.... what about "The****pups" or "DiMudio"?

;)

Re: DiMarzio Super Distortion vs. Duncan

I've got a '78 DMZ SD in the neck of my Kramer. I really like its tone. It is very warm, round, and bassy (in a good way) when clean- under gain it is very gritty. I don't have a DD in the neck of anything so I can't really compare it to the SD.

The Custom might be the right choice. High output with clarity might matchup with the mini HBs better. Thanks
