Dimebucker pinch harmonics

Have installed Dimebucker in bridge and am getting little or no pinch harmonic, is this usual for this pickup or is it too far from the strings? Other than this it is working fine, the guitar is a PRS se and the pickup is series wired. Any ideas? Thanks

welcome to the forum!!

how far from the strings is it? i think harmonics jump out of that pup

Re: Dimebucker pinch harmonics

AS I recall, they were within the specs on the instructions....one thing I left the wires kinda long, could the resistance in the longer wires effect anything? I will measure the pickup height when I get home and let you know.

Re: Dimebucker pinch harmonics

the long wires are fine, they shouldnt effect performance.

try raising it up a little and see how it goes. the specs are just guidelines, some pups i prefer closer, some a little further away

Re: Dimebucker pinch harmonics

I've been having the same problem as well. My other guitar has EMG HZ's in them and they seem to do much better. I need some advice on why the dimebucker isn't letting me do any pinch harmonics as well as they should be or at least make a decent squell. I have the pickup raised pretty damn high too.

Any help would be great

Re: Dimebucker pinch harmonics

If your action is too low, it will kill pinch harmonics. For action I go for 1/16" on the low E string and 1.5 mm on the high E string at the 12th fret. On a high output pickup like that I usually go 3/32" on the high E and 4/32" on the low E for pickup height while fretting the highest fret. Also the more gain you dial in, the easier the pinches. I tried a Dimebucker before, and it was very easy to pinch. Did you solder everything well? Are the red & white soldered and taped?
