Dinosaur amp identification

Greetings,

I recently took over my dad's old (he believes it's from the 50's) amplifier, he used it as a record amplifier/speaker when he was young, but it is supposedly an old guitar amp.

It seems to be some kind of german production, still in working condition, just fairly rusty on the inside. I need to change the power cable on it, and the input connector, as it's not the normal 1/4" jack, it's a DXL or whatever they're called, 3 or 4 pin connector thingie.

Anyway, my question is this, has anyone seen anything like this? Is there anyone out there that could help me identify it?
I've been thinking of taking it to a tech to get it fixed up a little, but I don't really want to change very much if it's a very rare amp.

I've got quite a few pics of it on my dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5exp90lozhmvhns/Bgi5k_L1-r

If anyone has a degree in archaeology or something similar, and can identify this old dino, that would be awesome!

Thanks!

Re: Dinosaur amp identification

No help with the identification, but I encourage you to take it to an amp tech.
That amp will need much TLC to operate again, properly.
Are you in the US?
If so, I'm pretty sure you're gonna need new iron.
If nothing else, a good cleaning and possible cap replacement are in order.

In terms of value/rarity, I suspect that the tubes will be the most valuable thing in there if they are originals.
Otherwise, value/rarity is typically dependent on name recognition, ie., if that were an original 50's Fender Tweed/Brownface that had been exported to Germany.
Otherwise, it's "just" a sweet old tube amp. And I say this being a lover of sweet old tube amps. :)

Good luck.

Re: Dinosaur amp identification

Well shiver me timbers! Finally I have a name for it, now I just need to see if I can get it restored and put to some good use.

Thanks a lot!
