Direct Recording Software for Long Distance Writing

Hey guys,

I'm trying to find a relatively inexpensive amp-modeling/recording environment, for my Macbook Pro (can swing Windows if necessary), that can provide me with a workable array of tones (with some decent metal ones) so that I can more easily do some long-distance writing/riff sharing with a friend who is a state away.

The key here is ease of use--if I come up with something, I'd like to be able to as quickly as possible record it, convert it to a universal file format, and send it.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions guys!:cool2:

Re: Direct Recording Software for Long Distance Writing

I kinda liked Revalver MKIII when I demoed it. There's a cheaper version now with all Peavey amps (I may buy that one). When I demoed, I pretty much used all Peavey amps anyway. I see people bypassing the software's cabs a lot, but I liked the cabs its got, and there's a lot of 'em to choose from. Some people use a crazy signal chain to get a good sound, but I don't really think it's necessary myself.

Line6 hardware with GearBox

I recommend the Pod Studio GX @ $99, modeling software all included, even recording software.
