Dirty Shirley Pedal Opinions

I own a BE pedal, been playing it for a while through a number of amps, love it, but it's not an overdrive. It's a distortion pedal. So I decided to get a Dirty Shirley pedal for some raunchy in between stuff. I did not like the distortion too much. It really does sound like the Dirty Shirley, but a slightly crappier version of it. I was kind of disappointed. Maybe it's just me but there's just something missing in that pedal that really bugs me. The only positive thing was that I paid $140 for it practically brand new and sold it within an hour for $140. Anyone else get one yet? What do you like or hate about it?

I tried it in Dave's shop in NoHo the day before they started shipping. I plugged it into a few different amps he had available.

It's a great pedal and it mimics the overall vibe of the Dirty Shirley VERY well, as you'd expect. But it's not a $2700 handwired tube head. ;)

But it's still a killer pedal. A friend of mine owned one briefly. It sounds best through Marshall and Fender type amps. He didn't care for it through his MESA or his Bad Cat.

Well this is a case where you just have to take it for what it’s worth. It’s just a pedal after all, running off of a 9v battery, not a full tube amp running off of hundreds of volts.

Even if you made an all tube preamp modeled after the da, it still may give you a similar impression.

Having owned both the Dirty Shirley and BE-OD pedals... as well as the real BE100 and DS40 amps.... the DS pedal will do what the BE-OD pedal will do and then some. I think that it's tight switch that gives it that versatility. I would choose the DS pedal over the BE-OD every time. And I far prefer the BE100 amp over the DS40 that I had.
