Dirty Terror Build

This is the documentation of my building a DIY Tiny (Holy) Terror. Someone said I should name it the Dirty Terror since my Nickname is Dirtbagg so there you go.
I am starting with Mercury Magnietics Holy Terror upgrade kit for the transformers. The chassis I built my self. It was originally going to be for a 18 watt build and changed my mind. I shorten it hence the bid square hole which was going to be for the 18 watt transformer.
The Mercury Kit was great with a schematic of the Tiny Terror and lots of photos which helped me in designing the turret board layout.

The below pictures are of the chassis before and right after the transformers were mounted. I am also using Metro Amps instructions for building their 50 watt Plexi, which they don't sell any more. However these are GREAT instructions so I am using them to build my amp.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

How loud does the Magic Chef get?

seriously though - looks really cool with the red and chrome.

mad props for taking stuff that wasn't really made for building an amp from scratch and using them to build an amp!

Re: Dirty Terror Build

Dude, you're building a Tiny Terror? That's ****ing awesome. I'm watching this very closely.

And yeah, pics are broken.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

I did not pull the Images I'll check them.

My stove only goes to 4. but is the only work space with good light in my apartment.

the bolts and nuts are surplus aircraft hardware from my dad.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

Over Thanksgiving I did some more work.
I finished modifying my chassis and mounted the tube sockets.

I also wired the power transformer heater wires to one of the power tube sockets. I was going to wire the heaters but needed more wire.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

This weekend's work.
I got the wire and wired up all the heaters for all the tubes.

Here is the Fuse holder and the power plug installed

And the last thing I completed is wiring the power switch to the transformer and the power plug.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

Work I did this Sunday but have been lazy to post it. I wired up the screen resistors off the power tube sockets.
Dirty-Terror019.jpg

I wired the Output transformer to the output jacks.

I wired up the power indicator bulb holder.
Dirty-Terror021.jpg

Installed the pots for Volume, Tone and Gain. The middle pot is for tone. The two ganged pots are for volume and gain.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

WOOHOO, I finally finished my amp and it works. I'll post some clips later this week, but here are a couple of finished photos minus the cabinet I still need to build and should have done by the end of the month.

Re: Dirty Terror Build

Hi Dirtbag, great build. Looks like exactly what I was planning to do. Unfortunately the MM trannys don't come in european voltages, I'm looking into alternatives. Any chance we can see a pic of the turret wiring you did? I'm still getting used to building on my own, not from kits. Its nice to check your work.

cheers

I know I have not been on for a while.
Tinner check with Mercury Magnetics they might have a kit for the UK.
I will see if I have a pic of the completed turret wiring. That was the interesting part for I had to come up with me own layout for the TT are originally build with a PCB.
