I only plugged into one once with a Heritage Les Paul and it definately had a big sound. It had me grinning from ear to ear. It had a really good classic rock tone. Lots of grit and good harmonics. Didn't really try it clean, though. For me it would be an amp I'd like to have for Rock and Blues.

I fell in love with the VHT when I took the Mesa Lonestar special back after the Mesa nearly caught fire. I think it was a rebound purchase. I seriously almost cried when the Mesa blew up. I have no regrets whatsoever about the VHT it was just WAY TOO MUCH OVERKILL for me. I knew that when I bought it but I just HAD to spend some time with it!!!
I get the Tophat this Wednesday so start the countdown til' I sell it too!!

The studio i recorded my 1st disc in had a 2x12 Top Hat. It was an very clean amp. It seemed lyke it wanted to be plyd very clean & it excelled at it. For some reason it also seemed to resist wanting to sound dirty. To me, @ least.

There is an old Top Hat 2x12 Club Deluxe for sale here in LA 900 with white tolex

I have never heard 6v6 Top Hats. The EL34 models are to die for! I imagine the EL84 models are the same - EL84s have so many tonal similarities in my opinion, only Class A gives you a more bad ass saturation.

I haven't played a Top Hat I didn't like
and I preferred the tones of the Deluxe and Royal to many other boutique amp offerings like the Carr Hammerhead. Very responsive and sweet amps. I'm pretty sure you'll dig the more Fender-like voicing of the Deluxe, I preferred the Royal myself, had a light British thang going on when pushed, but it was pretty smooth and buttery

Yeah, the Emplexador owns too; one of the best Marshall OD-esque amps I've played; only amp I liked better was a Savage Blitz 50.

I do not sell gear...thats my "problem" I just keep buying and it piles up! Greg on the other hand has a revolving door of gear...most amps and guitars only last 1-2 months then they door swings...

Only amps bro!! I keep most of my guitars and pedals!! I have no desire to rid myself of any of my guitars..........well.........nevermind...lets see what that G&L that Brasswell gets looks like :smack:
