Distortion bridge pup mate for the neck, and or JB mod

I love the sound I get from a distortion pup, but I am looking for a good neck pup to go with it. I like the ability to have good heavy distortion sound with high gain, but when I go clean I want the 59 clean sound. I am thinking about taking the JB out of my soloist and putting in a distortion. I don't want the distortion pup to over power the 59 that is currently in it though. What can I do? Also instead I am thinking of sending my soloist into the Seymour Duncan custom shop to get the Eddie Van Halen mod done on the JB instead. I don't mean the CC route either. What is your guys input on both ideas? I may do one change on my soloist and the other on my DXMG. I am not happy with the cleans on my DXMG with a distortion in the neck, and I have an extra 59.

A 59 neck and Distortion bridge is a very popular setup..... with compression from overdrive and differences in string vibration, a high output bridge with a medium output neck isn't a problem.

So, I don't have to add anything to balance out the DC Resistance? I don't want the pups to have a drastic difference in how loud they are with each other. I can deffinently hear the power difference with the distortion being so hot.

No. That pair works fine. The 59n has a bit of output itself. That's a great hard rock combo.

i got a JB/'59 combo and they are both only 2 mm's away from the strings and the '59 has no noticeable decrease in output.. i dont think the distortion has THAT much more output that the JB, so you're gonna be good
