Distortion in bridge, Custom Custom in neck combo?

Hi,

I'm considering an upgrade to my cheap LTD ESP M50 guitar. I mostly play metal, and also I'm trying to speedpick scales, other faster solos, etc.

I'm interested to see what you think of the combination of a Distortion in the bridge, and a Custom Custom in the neck.

I need high output, good sound for rhythm in the bridge, and good clear sound for sweep-picking in the neck.

Thanks for your opinions and suggestions!

The CC is a little high output for the neck but it has been done. I have never heard it personally but if im not mistaken, Hamer made a guitar(s) with a CC in the neck and a Custom in the bridge. Im sure someone else will chime in.

Shuv, i think you got it backwards. I thought those guitars actually had the Custom in the neck and the CC in the bridge, but i could be mistaken.

Anyway, I really like the CC in the bridge of my Strat, and have been wanting to try it in my SG. It's a great pickup with tons of crunch, really great for rhythm. I have no experience with the Distortion.

Personally, if I had a cheaper guitar, and wanted to play metal with it, I'd stick some Blackouts in there. They're basically Seymour's version of the popular EMG-81b / 85n combo.

Thanks... but after doing some more research, I think I'm just going to buy the Duncan Distortion Mayhem (that is, the set of DDs). Any opinions on that?

Go with Distortion bridge and JB in the neck.

:smack: All I remember was that it had the CC and Custom. My apologies.

Check out a SH-2 Jazz for the neck and don't let the name fool you. Very cool sounding for what you want to do with the neck pup.

The Distortion in the neck is a slam dunk!
