Distortion type

Ok, so i cant really pin the distortion type for classic rock. I have a line 6 flextone III and am playing a gibson les paul. I keep Hendrix and Zeppelin on the JCM-800 setting with the drive at about half, or a little more. Its just too sloppy sounding. I cant seem to dial into the distorted, yet clear tone. Anybody know of anything to help with this? A pedal or guitar modification or something?

Re: Distortion type

I don't know much about Line 6, but if it has any older Marshal non-master volume settings I would try those. Potentially the JCM 800 setting is a bit too modern for the Hendrix/Zepplin tones you're looking for.

Re: Distortion type

Use the red plexi lead model with the JCM 800 cab. Set gain and EQ just over half and then tweek as needed. Oh, and crank the channel volume and adjust actual volume with the master.

Re: Distortion type

hey baseball, do you hear a really harsh attack on your flextone 3? Like when you pick you get almost a muted string sound before your note?
