Distortions vs Emty BO’s

Been looking for a comparison between the two pickups. Anyone have experience with both p/u’s. How would you compare them to each other???

tried them in the same guitar, directly after one another:
AHB-3 has more output and thicker mids (full spectrum, no dips like the SH-6). Less bass end low mids which makes it tighter.
The AHB-3 has an very aggressive upper mid spike, but the SH-6 has this also but maybe not as extreme. SH-6 has more lowend and a more and more searing top end, but they are both ceramic screamers.
AHB-3 has some EMG 81 qualities.
SH-6 feels drier, if that makes any sense.

ToneFiddler Thank you so much for you reply.

So just to throw another question out there, between the two sets of pickups which one do you think would be more suited for black sabbath type tones???

Neither, TBH.

I'd use either a P90 for that or a darker/smoother high-gainer for the more doomy stuff.

I agree. I have both and they’re great for plug and play tight chugs and pick/note definition. You could use a fuzz but IMO actives don’t always play too nice with fuzz and if you’re using the DD and you’re not after fuzz, something looser, more old school would be the go.
