"Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

Nice. Didn't even try to make it look like anything somebody would want to play. Just smoked a bowl of whatever, then proceeded to hack up a guitar with a random power tool. Where do I sign up? Because there are no sharks left to jump.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

cant find a dictionary that defines distressed as burned up on a belt sander..... I cant access ebay from work, so I shudder to think what they are asking for that atrocity. Im so picky about my gear, I about cry when I ding a guitar.. I CANT imagine purposely doing that to one...

Only think they could do to salvage that wreck would be to do the same thing to the entire body and list it as swirl finish or something..

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

Starting bid 25 Uk pounds....no bids yet (surprise, surprise)

At least he describes himself well in the description, and that its a crazy art project.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

At least he's honest although I think he should have described it as "mutilated" or "butchered". Maybe that's the way to go with heavier guitar bodies, we could see a new line of "weight relieved"?

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

It was naturally reliced by a gorilla with a spiked wristband. It's all part of the mojo.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

Hacking away at a guitar with a disc sander with no obvious goal in mind is what we refer to as "distressed". Because litterally that guitar suffered distress.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

Looks like he used one of these machines, but didn't have the lightness of touch to get the carve right ....

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

I was just able to see the listing.. Man, I think Im gonna turn the back plates on all my guitars sideways. NOT

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

It would have probably looked more natural if he would have run over it with his lawn mower a few times.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

What the **** is that about? That looks awful. I wouldn't take it if someone gifted it.

Re: "Distressed" - yet another eBay joker

When people are doing these relic jobs, what are they possibly imagining could have caused some of the more questionable wear marks? Like the Strat where the finish is gone down to the wood, in that big patch right up against the pickguard and (seemingly) beneath it as well. How do people look at some of that stuff and think it looks realistic?

Some people try to hard. The marks on my guitar are either natural wear or my "touching up" some nasty looking dings and scratches. I just smoothed it out.
