Djenty Progressive Death Metal Guitar Playthrough (Mesa Tremoverb + Dimarzios/EMGs)

Hey all,

I just produced this video of my bandmate doing a guitar playthrough of one of our songs.

It turned out pretty cool so I wanted to share!

(I lowered the vocals in the mix so folks could focus on the guitars in case anyone's struggling to hear those.)

Gear-wise we used a mix of the following:

Schecter Jeff Loomis Signature 7-string
Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Signature 7-string (original model with the custom Dimarzio pickups)
Maxon OD-9
ISP Decimator
Mesa/Boogie Trem-o-verb Dual Rectifier
Mesa 2x12 with Vintage 30 speakers

Recorded with an SM-57, quadtracked the rhythms, and threw it all into REAPER.

The tone is darker and less defined than we generally prefer, but for an hour's worth of tone tweaking (needing to rush to film/record the loud stuff before the neighbors start complaining at night!) it ended up quite alright.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think! :fing2:

Wow lots of killer riffs in there. Guy's got some chops! Really like the riff around 1:40. Would be cool to see a video of the whole band doing their thing!

WOW great stuff brother man!

Really fresh solo ideas there. I'm a fan.

Don't really care for the style (deathcore or whatever) but damn, that was pretty crazy...especially the solo's!

Dayum! Brutal tone, epic chops

I had no idea Steve-o was that ****ing good on guitar.

Seriously, though, that was outstanding.

I don't usually care for djenty stuff and I don't usually find the solos in that kind of music to be played with that much feel but that guy completely blew me away.

Glad you guys dig it! He's a very gifted musician indeed!

We're finishing up the writing process on our first full-length and will start recording in early November. Throughout I'm going to be taking video, so I'll try and post some of the better nuggets as I come across them.

I'll keep you all in the loop!

Loved everything except for the quad tracked rhythm guitar. Would have preferred a single track especially for something this sonically dense.

I'm detecting some funk influence in there. 00:51
