I was bored today so i decided to do a freqeuncy chart fort d'marzio humbukers. I searched what they recomended for, Heavey metal, metal, classic rock, blues and jazz.
These are the top 5 most recomended ,but only for the bridge setting so please keep this in mind.
They are rated top to bottom. So overall they provide the best sustain, output, warm/fat, clean/bright and harmonics.

thanx and happy holidays!

Based on what you describe above, the SuperD is #1 in all of those categories! The others vary.

I maintain a solid PAF is ALWAYS the most versatile of all pups.

PAF, PAF Pro, 59, PG, A2P, Seths etc....those pups can all do anything, particularly with todays mega-gain amps.

Yeah i agree Aceman( psycho circus kicked arse guitar wise) with tucked mids it seems the player has more contol. Although I must add so does the air classic and eric johnson, but i digress there is just something about the air zone has me hypnotized lately.
Anyone use the air zone?

I voted air Zone
Happy holidays

I vote Air Zone as it is so it just in that nice middle ground between getting good and dirty, and good and clean; but either way, it is good.

Works wonderfully under high-gain--doesn't get muddy, and isn't so compressed that you can't get good low gain tones as well.

Re: D'marzio most versatile

For me, it's the Super Distortion. It covers all of those grounds nicely. I do agree that a good PAF works wonders though. Can't go wrong there either.

I used to have an Air Zone in one of my Strats. Great pickup. I could cover a lot of ground with it too but it wasn't as good as the Super Distortion in my book.

Howdy,

What, no Twang King?! Best Tele P/U I've ever played.

LOL, you go man!!!!

Of the list, I like the AZ. I have an AZ/AN combo and while it's very nice, it's all ROCK with a capital "ROCK!!!!

Personally, I had very nice results with a Fred/PAF Pro combo for versatility.

Howdy,

Buckethead:Ahem, but your thread title didn't say Humbucker, now did it? ;)
To be fair, if I had a second ES-335 (my only HB equipped guitar), I'd be keen on trying a set of 36th Anniversary HBers. Happy Christmas all!

Re: D'marzio most versatile

The Area Ts are technically humbuckers and are way more versatile than any listed. ;)

If you want HB-sized pups than the Air Zone is quite good, but nowhere near the pup the Area Ts are.

Re: D'marzio most versatile

Superdistortion out of those.. Otherwise Super III or PAF Pro.

Re: D'marzio most versatile

Some peeps are throwing out there opinions on this thread without reading this first post about the topic. The options come directly from dimarzio overall recomendations for Bridge humbucks and yes humbuckers were mentioned not coil stacks, tele, or other choices.

A lot of love for the Airzone. It was a close second to my SuperD selection. But again, mega amp + paf = whatever you want.

It splits really well, too. Still, I voted for the 36th Anniversary because the Air Zone has such a distinctive sound that it's a bit of a one trick pony in that regard.
