No, but you'll be able to pull it up alot higher if it's recessed. In a non recess route you make get a quarter step up, if it's not flat mounted on the body
True. I have a few 80's set neck Hamers with Floyds. They built those with the neck at a slight angle to the body like on a Les Paul, so the Floyd is sitting higher up off the body. Not entirely true. Some guitars have the entire floyd floating a few mm above the body, most notably many SD-era Jacksons and most Tune-o-matic-> Floyd converted axes. On these you can pull up just as high as with most recesses![]()
Why do people have so many problems with Floyds?
I had my one boss ask me one day how I played my Soloist with the OFR on it and I always see complaints here... wtf?
