Do I need a RWRP middle in my HSH?

Hi,

I have a Strat with a Hotrails in the bridge. The bridge has a push-pull pot for series/parallel.

Would a RWRP middle pup be of any benefit when the guitar in in position 2? ie: given the bridge bucker is noise cancelling in both its configurations.

Thanks

You have to split the humbucker to cancel noise with a single coil and then you still only need a regular single coil, not a rwrp.

ok thank. just so I understand it correctly:
- bridge in parallel plus RWRP middle is noise cancelling
- bridge in parallel plus normal middle is not noise cancelling
- bridge split plus normal middle is noise cancelling - as long as the right bridge coil is tapped

Correct?

How about for an HSS? Stupid question perhaps, but I honestly don't know.

The only way to get noiseless position 2 and 4 in an HSH with a single coil is by splitting the humbuckers. Series or parallel will not work. For HSS if you have another true single in the neck, rwrp would be the right choice so you can get noiseless position 4 as well. But either regular or rwrp will work with the humbucker, you only have to split to the right coil.
