Re: Do I need an additional pedal?
Basic ambience pedal set:
Chorus:
Delay:
Reverb: Check
You will likely never go bad with a chorus and delay in the lineup just on principle. For the There are a lot of things where a very subtle chorus might be used, or a slap delay in your sound ballpark.
Spend $100, get a used Mooer Ana Echo and a Ensemble King - small, cheap, sound great.
As everyone has mentioned - An analog delay may be great for those slaps, like an AD-9 or an MXR Carbon Copy. Both more expensive, but absolutely keeper pedals.
For a Chorus…anything you wants.
My Delay stable at the moment is an RV-3 Delay/Reverb, a DD-3, an AD-9, and - listen up a second…a Visual SOund Garage Tone Axle Grease Delay.
Here is why I use that; I have the DD-3 / AD-9 set for two particular sounds, a solo/lead delay and a tighter metallic tone. I use the Axle Grease for changing sounds! I can go from Van Halen Ain't Talkin' Bout Love (tight single repeat) to Kix Cold blood (slap echo), to Van Halen Panama, and a couple of other things really fast. The pedal is larger, the knobs are far apart, there is room to mark settings on black case. Think about it….
