I think that they're considered 'Gibson' type pickups because they're humbuckers, which IIRC, were made for Gibson by Seth Lover. In any case, they're designed after PAF's, so you'd get the 'Gibson' sound in that sense.
I think the true LP sound is a combination of humbuckers, a thick mohogany body with TOM and stop tail piece, the maple cap (if applicable), the mohogany set neck, and the 24.75" scale.
