Do You Ever Use....

....the outlet on the back of your amp?

If so, for what?

I never thought about it before, but after reading a review where the guy was raving about his amp having this outlet, it dawned on me...."WHY???"

Do they have a specific purpose like plugging in a slaved amp or is it just there in case you need it :dunno:

They are just there in case you want to plug something in...I use mine all the time! WhenI still gigged with my Twin reverb I used the outlet in the back for my pedal board so all I needed to find was ONE open plug to plug my amp into...makes life real easy sometimes.

Kind of figured it was a convenience thing.....thanks.

Yeah, I guess I could see that being a cool thing; I have a power strip/surge protector thing velcro'd on my board, so I never tried using it.

my 65 Deluxe has the electric plug on the back.... i plugged a lamp into it once... it works... but no i never use it... i plug all my gear into a Computer Grade Power Bar with RF Filters...

so should i be worried about plugging anything into this outlet? For some reason i've always avoided it, especially if i thought i might plug in something drawing a lot of electricity.

Yes I use it religiously on the Lux. That's what I plug my PPII into.

I would use it to plug in my pedal board. that would ensure that your effects and amp are on the same ground, effectively eliminated a crapload of noise. I would still plug the amp into a surge protector.

I don't think I've ever owned an amp with an electrical outlet on the back. Are talking about Fenders specifically here??

In my experience, it's only older amps that have them. I had an old Kenwood poweramp that had a few on the back, but none of the guitar amps I've owned (all made in 1995 or later) have had them.

I used the one on the back of my amps before, but not so much anymore since most of my gear is three prong grounded and my super only has a two prong outlet.
