Do you wax pot the pickup after swapping the magnet?

I saw many folks here having fun swapping the magnet and screws of their pickups so I want to do this to mine.
Just curious, do you guys wax pot the pups yourself after reassembling?
If I don't, will it feedback horribly or there's still some luck that the pups may remain quiet?

No, no need. The wax stays on the coils where it needs to be. The magnet doesn't move at all once you tighten the baseplate screws.

After doing a mag swap, I always dip my pickups in spicy dijon.

Not for any tonal reason, I'm just ****ed up.

AWESOME! I just sig'ed that. You can see it above and below this line.

I always leave the coil screws slightly loose then take a hair dryer and heat the pickup to get the wax flowing then I snug the screws down. There is bits and pieces of wax that don't always allow the parts to make solid contact. Idk if it works but the hair dryer will help with replacing the tape.

I generally scrape out excess wax before putting the new mag back in, it seems to open up the clarity of the pup a lil better,, plus as long as the coils are potted thats all you really need.

If anything I try and scrape some wax off...the less wax in/on pickups the better!

I do, but I hate feedback, controlled or otherwise. I pot the **** out of everything.

I lay the pickup on the exhaust manifold of my car and speed to my gig,.. wait for it to cool and Whoala!

I actually take as much wax as I can off. I don't know if it makes a difference but I generally liked unpotted pickups over potted ones.

I agree with this. Hair dryer to the bottom plate, and it ensures that the wax liquifies and dries again, making a good seal.

Depends on the guitar they are going in. If its going into a hollow guitar then waxing them will minimize the amount of squeal you will get.

I had a slightly squealy pickup after a magnet swap once, I put a blow dryer to it and problem solved.
