Does a pickup cover change the sound?

I was wondering if they do, because I really like the look of covered pickups, but if it hinders the pickups sound, I would rather have them uncovered. I've always wondered this, and today would be a good day to find out

short answer is yes, but the effect of metal covers is not necessarily negative.

I had a feeling someones asked before, i was just hoping instead of having to look, someone could do the looking for me

im still gonna wait a good 30 minutes before doing the searching though

anyone who was reading this and was just curious, it does affect the tone.

It makes the highs smoother and sweeter, not so twangy.

And that in my opinion is a good thing.
