Does anyone make a 24.75" scale replacement neck that fits an Ibanez RG?

I see on Warmoth and Carvin's websites that their replacement necks only fit guitars with heel cavity dimensions that match Fender Strats (and optionally Teles, in Warmoth's case).

I've searched on the internet to see if there any companies that offer necks that will fit Ibanez RG heel cavity dimensions but have not come up with anything. Is that really the case or does someone know of company?

Btw, I am only interested if final price is $200 or under. I don't *need* a replacement neck - I am just interested in experimenting if I can do it at a reasonable price, to see if I like the prefer the sound of the guitar with a shorter scale neck vs. the 25.5" scale that is stock.

Thanks

Ibanez RG heel cavity dimensions

Which variant? All Access Neck Joint or Original Square Neck Joint? (The screw holes are drilled in different places. An AANJ neck pocket would leave one of the screw holes drilled into an OSNJ neck exposed.)

I believe it's the AANJ style based on your description. Here's a picture of the neck joint - it's someone else's guitar but it is the same model as mine - Ibanez RGR 320 EX.

The confusion you are experiencing is a symptom of you needing a Gibson.

Lol, good one, Bruce. No, I've got the mahogany body /24.75"scale/L.P. style and sound already covered with 3 other guitars that i own that have those "Gibson" specs.

I am just looking to have fun and experiment with this basswood 25.5" scale ibanez that i have laying around. I am particularly curious to test if scale length is a bigger influence on overall tone than body wood.

There are options out there but I don't know of one for under $200...unless you search for a used one which will be hard to find. Best of luck!

What are the heel dimensions of these Warmoth and Carvin necks? Perhaps it would be a viable solution to get one of these or something cheaper like a Mighty Mite and have a tech retrofit it? I'm sure work can be done to make it fit.

Also, you might want to keep an eye out on eBay or something for an Ibanez Iceman neck, because some of those were 24.75" and fit the AANJ neck joint, AFAIK.

Warmoth could make one but it wouldn't be cheap.

Yup, their unfinished necks start off around $160 before shipping and don't include a nut nor any finish. Also, there is $15 surcharge for not using the standard Fender 4 hole mounting holes...so going with the bare minimal on everything will get you over $200 and you won't have a nut or finish (not a big deal for a Maple neck if you are ok with applying a hand rubbed oil finish.)

Warmoth website specifically says they do not fit Ibanez pockets

I once too had a similar idea. Couldn't find anything; however, I did find this guy named ET Guitars off Google. He normally only does baritone conversions. IDK if I asked him or not but perhaps with some research, he can pull off a Gibson conversion.

Site looks like its a one man operation, low budget, and thus not a big company. Now IDK if thats a good thing or not. Additionally, I didn't do any research on his craftsmanship reputation and eventually went with a Warmoth build instead (including body). You may want to ask around.

Note: He offers these cool thick skunk stripes. I was drooling over the Bubinga.

You can find people selling them used, but they are few and far between.

They'll make custom necks, IIRC, but they start at $600ish and you have to provide specs.
