Does ibanez make good acoustics?

Just would like your guys opinions on midrange acoustics really. Ibanez in specific. If you think there is better stuff out there then feel free to voice your thoughts. I am just shopping around for a decent middle price acoustic and would like any advice that is pertinent. I am also considering breedloves......I don't want to spend less than $300 and no more than $700 or so.

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

I don't think the Ibanez factory actually builds any of their acoustics. I think they are all made by Samick or Cort. I could be wrong.

That said, they are very nice with, with solid tops and decent tone. Durable too. :nice:

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

For your price range I'd personally look at an Alvarez or Takamine over an Ibanez. I picked up a killer Alvarez jumbo (AJ60SC I believe) for $500 out the door around Christmas time.

i absolutley LOVE ibanez acoustics. but there are probably some that are better in that range.

Have a look around for the Canadain Made Garrison guitars. they are all made with all solid construction and start around the $500 mark.

Read some of the testimonials. They are very ear opening!

I've played them. The upper end models have an interesting sound, but I've heard that they can fall apart because of the weird materials they use.

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

Well, either way I am not buying a garrison, cause they don't have any OM or 000 models. I did play a nice Takamine and GC a few weeks ago! I like there on board tuners too.

Check out the Norman B-50 and B-20 models.

I agree. The Normans sound great & have a really smooth feel to them. Good call!

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

I'm with FretFire. Get an Alvarez.

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

I would get a BlueRidge acoustic over any of them for around the same price tag. Or for that matter over and similar price tag acoustic! The best bang for the buck IMO!

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

a friend of mine got a takamine for about $700 and its the best sounding acoustic ive ever heard! get a takamine!

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

A couple years ago a buddy of mine and I got tasked by our wives to pick out an acoustic for a friend of theirs as a birthday present.

We must of spent two hours in GC playing everything under $400.

This weird little Ibanez for under $200 just had it in spades. Must of been the right wood on the right day or something...but it was just an amazing instrument. We put it up against the Matrins and Alvarez'....sounded just as good.

I'd suggest just going and playing as many as you can lay your hands on. See what you like and what you like that's in your budget.

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

I used to own one of those "mid' priced Breedlove's you're talking about, the AC200 to be exact. It was a great guitar for $349 at my local store. I don't have it now, just didn't get the play the electrics do so i sold it. But now I wish I still had it, acoustic GAS is returning. I have recently checked out the Blueridge mentioned above, very nice also, but the Alvarez Jumbo that Fret mentioned is really a great guitar. For some strange reason Jumobs are getting my attention. I may still go back to a similiar Breedlove though.

Re: Does ibanez make good acoustics?

Thanks for the advice guys. I will have to try the Normons and Blueridges. I tried my first breed love at GC yesterday. All I can say is:bigeyes2: :wow: That is the first acoustic I have ever played that made me smile! Yes, smile! The instant I strummed it. It was rad. I am seriously considering breedloves now. It was 600 and it sounded better than a 2000 dollar martin! :laugh2: :laugh2: After that everything else I played just kinda made me go....."Hmm, that is pretty good...."
