Does my dream guitar exist?

I've seen a few models by ESP... but not only are they really ugly, but the scale is still 24.75, which means the high frets will be impossible for my fingers

Comfort wise, 25.5 would be ideal, but I wonder what that would sound like..

Umm...like a LP. 99% of what changes tone in theory, folks like you and I can't hear.

Yes, it does. This one suits your handle much better than that LP nonsense. This is a true "players guitar".

Oh ok.

I always heard that scale length plays a HUGE role in overall tone.

Guess it was just another exaggeration.

In that case, give me a 25.5 24 fretter any day!

Re: Does my dream guitar exist?

I can promise you that I'll get 10 posts saying I have no clue what I'm talking about and that I'm wrong and blah blah blah.

To that I say:

Shut the hell up, go play your guitar, and thank me in an hour.

Well if you don't mind going bolt-on, you can always call up warmoth and have them make one for you. There's also a bunch of smaller manufacturers that will also do what you want, it's just a question of how much you're willing to pay.

Does it have to be shaped like an LP? You can get a PRS singlecut with 24 frets I'm pretty sure, other than that you could get a mahogany telecaster and throw some humbuckers in it. Many ways to skin that cat.

Re: Does my dream guitar exist?

so do you KNOW 24.75" scale on 24 frets is impossible for you to play? or are you just assuming based on the numbers you read on the internet?

cuz i would at least TRY one of those ESP Eclipses because they are some of the best guitars you can get for under a grand these days.

Hey. A good song to play on that would be UFO's "Shoot Shoot" :headbang:

Re: Does my dream guitar exist?

Gibson's double cut Les Pauls do have 24 frets and TOM/Stop-tailpiece.

They are said to sound substantially different, though.

If you want LP ish sound I think you can't actually cut into the body far enough for 24 frets normal access. I would build a Warmoth with a 24 fret overhang board and a regular LP single cut.

I'm just assuming, because even 24.75 22 fretters already feel to small for my fingers

The most comfortable neck i've played was on an Ibanez guitar, not sure on the model. Those ridiculously long ones with 24 frets and ridiculously flat.. Although I do like some thickness to the neck.

If possible, yeah. It's my favourite shape :approve:

Re: Does my dream guitar exist?

well i would at least try the guitar before assuming it's unplayable. those things are frickin sweet.

Re: Does my dream guitar exist?

Yeah, there are a lot of double cutaway solid bodied guitars with arched tops, 2 humbuckers, tune-o-matics, longer scales, and 24 frets. Check out some ESP Horizon or LTD H- and MH- series guitars.

I've got a late 80's Carvin 24.75 with 24 frets and it's perfectly fine... but then I have smallish hands.

That said, Carvin makes this and this.
The CS6 is 22 frets, the SC90 is 24 frets.

Conventional wisdom is that 25.5" scale works better with E, A & D strings and 24.75" scale works better with the G, B and e strings.
Check out "fanned fret" guitars for better ideas.

24 fret necks also "interfere" with the neck pickup placement if you want to achieve those classic 22 fret neck tones.

I think your best bet is either Warmoth/USACG or a luthier-built custom guitar.

ESP has these and these.

I have a Lp double cut standerd and I love it. The sound is a little bit off from a LP with out the doublke cut but not so much that I can tell, but then again im no tone expert. But all in all you get pretty close to the LP sound with out paying 200-500 more for a LP standerd.
