Does This Describe the Sound of the Antiquity II Surfers?

Don't let the name fool you: the ‘60s Surfer™ pickup would be equally comfortable in the smoky clubs of Chicago's West Side as hanging ten at the Malibu Pier. The Antiquity II Surfer is hailed by many members of the Seymour Duncan User Group Forum as the ultimate pickup for vintage Strat® chime and quack. Whether you play Blues, West Side Soul, Surf, or Jangle Pop, the Surfer has the sweet highs and percussive lows to give you and your Strat a Free Ride on the Way Back Machine without sacrificing output or versatility. A Custom Bridge version is available for those players needing more output from the bridge position; and an RW/RP version is available for the middle position.
Now here's the thing. I didn't write this description. One of you did.

Any ideas who?

Hmmm . . . I was thinking that maybe GearJoneser wrote that. Its Lew's sentiment, but not really his style.

it's a fun piece of writing ... accurate without precision .. just like most good pickup descriptions :D

it also had a bit of luke duke's flavour in it ... could you be sand baggin' us there mister? :D

No one's got it yet.

Do you want to tell 'em? Or should I?

It's our own Falstaff (Matt).

Nice job, Matt. But you better not be gunnin' for my job, bro! ;)

...Although, it's not very nice to make fun of someone (even jokingly) when they'll never see it.

Good job with the description, Matt. I can see why they used it.

No, I'm a cop. :laugh2: Maybe I should change career paths! It is nice to use my English degree once in a while, though.

Thanks guys...Evan was very cool to reply "why don't you try to write one?" when I PM'd him suggesting that SD change the description of the Surfers. I feel very honored to contribute to the SD site and happy that after suffering significant emotional damage by being one of only two people who voted for Edgar in the "Which Winter?" thread, I was able to give Edgar some props, if subtly. :)

Nicely said!

The one thing I'd change is the "sweet highs". I don't hear them as being sweet. The Texas Hots are "sweet" but I hear the highs of the Surfers as being bright, bubbley and very lively...glassy like Chess and Vanguard era Buddy Guy or Jimi Hendrix but the Surfers are a little stronger and throatier. My Surfers all sound like the bubbley bright original pickups in my '63 Strat but a little stronger, deeper and...what's that word I'm looking for??? Well...."better"!

I think if Jimi was still around he'd love the Surfers.

That's pretty good...I don't have a strat right now, but those sound like pickups I would want to buy :)
