Does this sound like a tube bombed out to you guys?

Got an old Bogen conversion. Turned it on today after not playing it for awhile and after two chords of souding beautiful, it lost about half or more volume and sounded like a cheesy solid state amp. You know, that fizzy distortion. This amp was modified to have a master volume, which actually worked really well, and still does as the fizzy sound sounds the same when the MV is lowered.

Tubes and filter caps are where I would start looking. Bad solder, I have had a cap connection lift on me, sounded like total hell, til I figured out what it was.

Good stuff. I'll have it checked out tomorrow. Thank you.

Well, I checked the preamp tubes and the tech checked the power tubes, and they aren't the problem. He put it on the scope and my ears aren't decieving me, the output is low. He's gonna check everything out and hopefully it's a cap and not the OT.

Rid--just wanted to say...Oh yeah, thanks a million for inventing that Plexitone, lol. I just smile a mile wide whenever I use that pedal. If it was out, I wish I knew about it a few years ago before I sold my white Marshall 50 watt 1987x reissue half stack.

Turned out to be the OT. Luckily, I still had the original. I had the tech put another Bogen that had an ohm tap for 4,8 & 16 and that one crapped out. Back to being fixed at 8 ohms now.
