Don't new guitars have plastic on the pickups and stuff?

I just got a Hamer from musicians friend and it does have the peel-off plastic stuff on the back of the cover that covers the pots (I don't know what it's called:smack: ) but none on the pickups or anywhere else. Do new guitars usually have the plastic on the pickups (covered humbuckers) or anywhere else? Just curious.

I don't recall ever getting a guitar with plastic on the pickups. Sometimes on the covers for the trem and control cavities as well as the pickguard but that's about it.

My Godin and some of my strats had plastic on the pickguards but some of my other strats from the same store didn't... the store removed it before it went on the wall...

Schecter, ESP and Epiphone do it...

Gibson has plastic on the pickguards, but the only guitar I remember having plastic on the pickups was Epiphones.

as long as everything looks new, i wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

but if something is heavily scratched, then I would see a problem.

Exactly, some do, some don´t. As long as the guitar isn´t a scratchfest I wouldn´t worry ;)
