AFAIK, you gotta have it done through the custom shop with a cover "lightly soldered" on.

Pm Bada Bing, who is a member here and an SD dealer, and he can order one for you. There is no additional charge. You just pay the normal price for a humbucker with a cover. Well, I guess that is an additional charge, becaue you cannot get one without a cover, but it's a small price to pay for a double creme. It's called a shop floor custom, and it may take 3 weeks to get.
You can also order one from www.wymoreguitars.com . John is formerly BlackroseCustoms. I have ordered from both, and both provide excellent customer service and the best prices on pickups. And they are members of the forum, which is a huge bonus.
As for the covers...lightly soldered on means they slip the cover over the pickup for shipping. You simply slip it off and go. You can also order double creme pickups WITH the duncan logo...because I have several of those.

Thanks for the info guys! Too bad they make it so difficult to obtain something that is obviously popular.......Dimarzio offers them in double creme without the red tape and the up charge, but, I like Duncans...........
