Double thick ceramic 8 magnet vs regular alnico 5

Guys, I have a pickup with a double thick ceramic 8 magnet, and I am thinking of swapping it for an alnico5. What do you think this would do for the tone?

Currently, that pickup is approx 8.4k, neck position, asymetrically wound, and it sounds fat fat fat fat fat. I want to reduce the output a bit, get a bit more brightness, clarity, less chewy creamyness.

Sounds like a good idea. If that's still to thick with a 8.4k neck (42awg?) humbucker, than use an A3.

Crap. I just did the opposite in a 59 Custom Hybrid that sounded a little dark and muddy in a Strat I’ve been struggling with for years now. I really thought about recording a before and after but was too lazy.
