Just threw a set on last night, because I wanted to darken the tone of my 50's Player Strat, and boy do they deliver. I like the response and tone of these far better than the Tite Fits I tried a few years back. Impressive right now, so I hope they hold up over time. Does anyone have experience with these at all?

Re: DR Pure Blues

I used them for a long time. I like them a lot, I just moved to Ernie Balls when a friend gave me a ton of them he didn't want for free. I'll probably go back to the DRs later though... I didn't have a problem with string life.

Re: DR Pure Blues

ive been primarily using dr pure blues 11's for years and years. i dabble with other pure nickel strings but always come back to them

Re: DR Pure Blues

They're the only thing I'll put on my Hamer. The seem to last a really long time with my body chemistry to boot.

Re: DR Pure Blues

I didn't get much life out of them & I broke them a lot. I switched back to my D'Adarrio XL115's and haven't looked back. I get great tone & they last forever.

Re: DR Pure Blues

I love the way they feel and I love the way they sound but I once had 8 sets out of a 10 set box that would not intonate on one more more strings...never bought another set.

Interesting. I had no issues with intonation. I loved them, only reason I changed is that my body chemistry was over the top corrosive with them.

If you think the DR nickels feel and sound great try a set of Thomastik Blues Sliders. You will never be the same

they totally had a bad run for a while, i had a bunch of sets with issues. i called dr and they sent me a bunch of free sets. since then i havent had those same issues.

the snake oil brand pure nickel strings were awesome but their site was down last time i tried to get some

Re: DR Pure Blues

I've never liked any DR strings that I've tried, except regular Tite-Fits.

For darkening a bright guitar, I prefer Ernie Ball Rock n Rolls. Pure nickel too.

Re: DR Pure Blues

I used to love them but when they had that bad runI switched to D"Addarios. I've tried DR's a few times since with nothing but issues so I am done with them.

Dean Markley Electric Reissue do that nicely too. The are nickel plated, but sound more like pure nickel and do longer.
