I know the basic idea, and I've looked over this article pretty thoroughly.. I have a good electrical background. Is there anything thats not in this article that I should know about?
I got two nice insulated alligator clips and a 5 watt 100K resistor and wired up a simple drain for the filter caps. Black stays clipped to a power transformer bolt (or other convenient ground) the entire time I'm working inside a chassis. Red goes on the positive end of the first filter cap the second I turn the amp off and unplug it. Wait a minute, then test the remaining voltage on the power rail - you can watch it drop on your DMM.
Keep the jumper in until it's time to turn the amp on again. I don't understand why, but apparently the filter caps can re-charge themselves while you are working on the amp.
