Drum Software

Reckless Abandon

New member
I am not sure if I am dreaming or if this exists/is possible with my budget. I can only spend $200. I am looking for a drum plug in/program something that will allow me to create the drums for recording. I have no problem with pre-recorded parts that I can edit or change the tempo then drop them in. I have a Firepod and use the Cube base Le software with came with it.

thanks!

Re: Drum Software

No keyboard required, you write on drum scroll or w/e it's called in your DAW. I did a google search for it under shopping and someone had it for $199, well worth it!

Re: Drum Software

If you can use VST plugins, EZ Drummer is real good too - plus it's 100 bucks. You can get expansion packs for it too which run about 75 a shot. I started using it about a month ago and incorporated into Sonar. Works and sounds excellent. I was writing my drum parts manually before that and sending the midi to my DM Pro. I may never have to do that again...

Re: Drum Software

I was looking at that before I posted this thread. I guess I can use plug ins. I rarely do anything fancy with the recorder other than layer guitars. That looks like a good program

Re: Drum Software

Have you tried Hydrogen, which is an OpenSource software with a couple of contributed drumkits available?

(I didn't and I'm looking for opinions)

Re: Drum Software

EZdrummer is the hands down pick if you want something thats versatile, affordable and most importantly easy to use

THeres enough free vst stuff and samples out there you could program your own for free and still have it sound great, but drum programming while not rocket science is still more than most guitarist want to do.

Instead of clicking notes on a grid, you just select patterns in EZDrummer and drag and drop your fills etc into your track

You can put together a complete track in a few minutes

Its not the end all of drums by any means, but its so quick and easy to get something thats going to be at least ballpark of what your after.

Means more time playing and less time programming

I think they've even got a free demo you can try
