It's official, I got bit by the Tele bug and I'm hooked :32: Telecasters are so badass and I'm loving mine so much!
After my whole UPS ordeal, I've felt like this guitar is a miracle. I honestly thought it was going to be lost and I was going to have to push to get a refund from UPS.
This guitar has everything I've wanted in a telecaster. It sports a one piece swamp ash body (4 lbs.), a boatneck contoured birdseye maple/rosewood neck, vintage 3 saddle (brass) official Fender licensed bridge, graphite nut (I believe that's what it is, it's black, I know that much
, Fender ping tuners (which hold their tuning extremely well), and some nice Peter Florance Voodoo pickups (TE50 and Broadcaster pickups I believe).
I've heard mixed reviews on the quality of Warmoth parts. After playing this guitar (which was comprised of primarily Warmoth parts), I can say that they do indeed make very good quality stuff. The neck fits the pocket of the body perfectly. I can play one chord and it rings out very loud acoustically (and balanced). There is something very good going on here that I don't hear everyday and that tells me that this is one guitar that won't be going anywhere.
The neck is my favorite part of this guitar. It is PERFECT for my hands! It's beefy and with a very subtle "v" shape. Chords and scales can be played effortlessly. It's currently setup with 11's and I can play with them fine, but I don't feel safe having a gauge that high tuned to standard E so I'll probably stick to 10's so there won't be quite as much tension or stress on the neck. This shaped neck is IT as far as I'm concerned. It even beats out the 50's style fatback Gibson necks for me :saeek: Did I mention the fretwork and inlay work? Absolutely dead on. I can play and not feel a single thing out of place or poking into my hand. I'm very impressed with how well this guitar was assembled!
I have a Harmonic Design S-90 and Vintage + on the way, so I'll be looking forward to installing them. Scott from HD recommended an ash body with a maple/rosewood neck, so the tone should be perfect.
I'm thinking of naming this guitar "Shiva" as a tribute to the Pagan goddess. There's no logo on the headstock, so I may have to go and get a custom made decal for her
Not only did this guitar survive multiple misroutings, but it arrived safely and is one hell of a guitar... a miracle indeed :burnout: Due to my experience with this guitar, I can safely recommend Warmoth products to people looking for a nice custom instrument. My entire guitar weighs 7 lbs, but it really sustains and blooms in all that right areas :fing2:
