Duesenberg Guitars

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

Do not own one personally, I do have a buddy who has a couple of them, I thought they played very well....

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

Never laid hands on one but they look cool and Joe Walsh plays a few. Couple of the band members at the church attend have them and they look and sound quite nice.

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

i know a guy with a few of them and he loves em!

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

Great semi hollow/hollow boutique guitars, if you can afford them.

If not, there's other options that aren't QUITE as good, but dramatically less expensive, such as late 90's Korean DeArmond, Eastwood, Peerless, Guild, Gretsch, etc.

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

i was a big fan of the guilds till fender killed them off. hamer too!

Re: Duesenberg Guitars

Duesenberg either made a big push "sponsoring" a bunch of worship teams or there are a lot of church musicians that jump on the Hillsongs gear wagon.

There was a time a couple of years ago when you couldn't watch a Youtube video of a worship team without seeing at least one Duesenberg.

I have never played one and the ones I've heard live have gone through numerous pedals and quality amplifiers before being mic'd. My impression is that they do the Gretsch thing pretty well ... especially when driven, but I've also heard some tones that were way too thin for my taste. I'm sure it boils down to how a player dials in his gear. In any case, I would buy one if I didn't dislike the appearance of the pickguard attachment so much.

There is something about the Duesenbergs that I don't quite remember. It may be that the bodies are built in Korea and then German made hardware is installed in Germany. Don't quote me on that - I have CRS.

I've never researched them. Interesting about the Worship Team thing. The two I see regularly are quite different; one is a metallic blue LP Style with twin humbuckers and played by a guy who pulls out a number of Teles, the other ones are played by a guy that has a White one (f holes, very Gretsch looking) and a Black 12 String.
