Duncan 59 What Type of Alnico V

Re: Duncan 59 What Type of Alnico V

2.5" x .5 ".125 polished a5 as far as i know currently. ive seen old ones with roughcast of the same size

Jeremy where can that magnet be purchased also is there I difference between the rough cast and the polished

Re: Duncan 59 What Type of Alnico V

I found the difference between polished and roughcast little to not audible with the same gauss value, maybe a tad softer. But it makes a vast difference if A5s are degaussed, means they are charged or discharged to a different gauss level. There are also Unoriented A5 magnets which have a lower ability to hold the charge.

Can you go into a little more detail? Specifically with regard to the 59. If you're willing to differentiate between the 59b and 59n all the better.

On the addiction fx store they have different lengths. All of them work in a standard humbucker. They have tiny differences creating a little different inductance. In short some say shorter mags create a clearer sound little less bass and low mids, which brings out the higher mids and highs. They prefer the shorter ones in the neck. This seem to be part of the mix of features in the late PAFs and very early T-Top pickups.

Polished A5's are in most HB's and P-90's. They're everywhere!

The stock magnets work for some players, and for others, they prefer other magnets. In LP's '59N's are sometimes bassy/boomy, and some members will put in an A4 or A3. In the bridge, '59B's can be brighter or thinner than what's expected. For more warmth and mids, UOA5 or A2 work well. For me, as a classic rock/blues player, UOA5 is what '59B's should come with. If you want warmth and mids along with more output, A8 is good.

stock would be 2.5" if its a bridge pup, id stick with that. if its a neck, you could get a shorter one if you wanted

Re: Duncan 59 What Type of Alnico V

This is for the bridge.so the 2.5 polished would be the same that’s in the Duncan 59

yes, or at least as close as addictionfx has. i dont know where gets their mags from but they put a polished 2.5" a5 in the 59b
