Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

I really love Duncans in the bridge. I like the sound of Dimarzios in the neck. What would be the Duncan equivalent of the Dimarzio LiquiFire? Paf Pro?

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

There's no reason why you can't mix the two manufacturers. Finding direct equivalents isn't always possible.

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

The SH-2 JAZZ is Duncan's hi definition neck bucker
also the SH-10n Full Shred neck
SH-14 Demon might be the only A5 SD pup with a similar power level in the neck to the liquafire.
BUT it's going to be a different flavor than the Dimarzio.
no law against mixing and matching brands, also no harm in trying some different models and if you don't like... trade um er sell um:)

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

Pickups aren't like cars. They aren't designed to have feature parity or functional equivalence across brands. Just look at each manufacturers PAF replicas they all sound different. So saying I want an Invader made by Bill Lawrence is a waste of time.

I am the same way - Duncan Distortion and Dimarzio Air norton is my fav combo!

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

Add me to the list, and DMZ pups look different next SDs.

Me, too. I don't like mixing them, though I'm fully aware that there's no functional reason not to.

If you're lucky enough not to have this hang-up, or if you can get over it, just get the LiquiFire.

Don't be like us.

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

Sooner or later I want to get a Liquifire for the neck and Duncan Distortion for my Dean Razor back in the future.

Re: Duncan and Dimarzio Relatives?

I hate mixing brands. I have OCD about that. It sort of sets me off having both.

I'm a bit weird in that way also, especially if the appearance of them together looks off. :oo

I tend to like Dimarzio neck HBs more become of the pick attack and generally more hot rodded sound, although I'm split on the respective bridge HBs.
