Duncan Detonator Screws

I got a couple Detonators for Christmas and was wanting to change out the large hex screws for something with a smaller head to change the magnet field. I Googled it and the only thread size I found was 10-32. I then took one of the screws to Ace and tried to match it up with another 10-32 but it wasn't right. I then tried every inch and metric bolt they had and couldn't find a match. The 10-32 was close but when I laid the two together there was a wobble, M6x.8 was also close but still had a wobble like the threads weren't 100% the same. Does anyone know what the thread is on these screws?

If memory serves they are 10/32 but im not 100% on that... even then you dont want to use screws from ace hardware... the alloy is all wrong for pole pieces and they sound like pewp. Get a hold of Dimarzio they do sell just screw sets, you want a set for a Super distortion, Super 3 or the like.

Re: Duncan Detonator Screws

I used my dads thread gauge tool and found its an M5-.75, good luck trying to find one. The closest thing is an M5-.8 but that isn't right. Must be a one-off screw.

I thought about changing the spacer with something with a more common thread so I took the pickup apart. I found that the screws aren't screwed into anything metal, they're loosely threaded into the bobbin. So I'm going to get 24 M5-.8x16mm set screws and see what that does.
