Duncan Distortion in semi hollow guitar?

I want a high output pickup in the bridge for playing metal 'stuff', and I would like to continue using my fender semi hollow (all maple). Would I get too much feedback? :eek5:

Has anyone tried a Distortion in the bridge of a semi hollow? How does it sound? :reporter:

Thanks.

Keep the volume lower and don't stand right in front of the amp, and you would be fine. However, excessive volume and close proximity will make any semi-hollow start feeding back.

My Hamer Echotone came stock with Duncan Designed HB-103s, which are similar to a Distortion. I pulled them right away because I wanted something vintage-y, but they didn't sound horrible. They were really thick, and surprisingly enough not all that prone to feedback.

I've also heard a Distortion in a real deal 335 and was shocked by how good it sounded at the time. Unfortunately both of these were quite a while ago, so I don't remember a ton of specifics about how they sounded.

I play an Epiphane Dot Studio with a JB in the bridge. Never had a problem.

Never play facing the amp or too close to it though....
