Have an Ibenez S-series with factory pick-ups and am thinking of replacing them with a Duncan Distortion pick-up set ~ any thoughts as to if this is a good or bad idea . Thanks for any comments either pro or con ?
Thanks

Re: Duncan Distortion Pick-up

Welcome to the forum!!!! I would replace them as soon as I could if i were you!!! The Distortion set is a good sounding set and I highly recomend them. Lately I have taken a great liking to the full shred set and these are becoming some of my most favorite pickups ever!!!

Welcome to the forum, and yup . . . the Distortion is a great pup.
One of Duncans worst "named" pups. :laugh2:

First off ~ thanks to all posts
Sab the sound style I`m going for is hard rock/ metal
with alot of slides/bends vibrato and P.M if that answers your question -
Thanks

Re: Duncan Distortion Pick-up

okay you DD fans
would you say a DD is good for modern rock/ thank punky emo rocky thing
or more for flat out metal

i'm between this pickup and a Custom for one of my customers

Re: Duncan Distortion Pick-up

I use the DD, (neck), for some of my best jazzy/bluesy riffs. I imagine it would do any of those styles well.
I think they should call it the JB Plus. ;)

all of the above and everything in between. The Custom I found to be too brittle and thin for my tastes. I almost always use a JB or Distortion.

Go with the EMG 81 or 85 or a Lawrence 500XL if you can stand the wait. :burnout:

These guys all work for Duncan....... :laugh2:
