Duncan Equivalent to PRS Tremonti

Does anyone know if there is a Duncan pickup (gold covered) that closely resembles the PRS Tremonti Treble in tone? I'm not sure of the specs of the Tremonti so I can't even compare those to any of the Duncan pups. The reason I ask is that I just purchased an Edwards Les Paul Custom. It was shipped with a JB installed and a Distortion as an extra pickup. I'm not totally digging the JB so I'm gonna swap the Distortion in there tomorrow, however if I'm not satisfied with that I want to have an idea of what other pickups I should consider that are close in character to the Tremonti which I currently use in my other guitar.

Actually, the closest pickup to the Tremonti is the Gibson 500T. As far as Duncan goes, I would imagine a hot ceramic pickup like the Distortion would be the closest.

Out of the Duncans, the Distortion is the closest. IIRC, Tremonti did us the Gibson 500T for a while.

Thanks guys.

The reason I asked this question is you can't get the Tremonti with a gold cover so I thought I would look into Duncans with a similar tone. I had forgotten that he used to use the 500t and that the Tremonti Treble is based off of that. Maybe I'll look into a gold covered 500t.

But it sounds like I might not have to do anything since I do already have a Distortion that I'll be putting in there soon.

Remember me? I traded you the tremonti a while back and have since gone back to it. I put a Distortion in one of my friends guitars a while back and would say it is the closest I have heard.

Hey man, how's it goin. I can see why you went back. I tried the Custom 5 again after I traded it to you but definitely prefer the Tremonti for the stuff I play. I'll give the Distortion a good try over the next couple of weeks and see how it sounds.

Re: Duncan Equivalent to PRS Tremonti

After poppin' the Distortion in I've decided it's one of my fav pickups. It has a very similar character to the Tremonti but slightly more refined (for lack of a better term). It is agressive yet is still nice for cleans. I also much prefer the DD for leads compared to the Tremonti. I'll be giving it a thorough run through in my 3 gigs this week.

The DD/'59 combo may have to replace the Tremonti/Alnico II Pro combo in my other LP. The DD provides tight aggressive rhythm and smooth leads while the '59 provides big, full cleans and super buttery leads (smoother than the A2Pro to my surprise).
