At the moment my tele has a 3 way toggle and regular CTS 250k pots If I don't want to tap the pickup can you just connect the full output lead or how would it be done then have the availability to tap latter? thanks!

yes, you can just use the full output lead. make sure the tapped lead is insulated so doesnt contact anything and you are good to go. you can use the tap later if you get a five way switch, mini switch or push/pull pot

This is a very cool pickup, btw. It is worth it to explore the tap sound.
