Hello, i have a duncan lil 59 the the bridge of my strat and have dimarzio area 61's in neck and middle. 250k pots and not sure about the cap. Is there a way to make this pickup sound a little more balanced. it sounds kinda like theres a mid hump, and its kinda muffled sounding.is there anyway to make this pickup sound better?

welcome to the forum!

a 500k pot will make it sounds less mid humped and brighter but you may not like the way the areas sound. does the lil 59 have a tone control attached?

Re: Duncan Lil 59 Bridge help

and its still too muffled with just the 250k volume pot? the area's are pretty bright sounding pups. you could use a 500k volume pot with resistor to bring the volume down to 250k for the area's.

lowering the pup and raising the pole pieces can give a little more clarity too

Re: Duncan Lil 59 Bridge help

The Little 59 should be scooped (at least, a little) but certainly shouldn't have a mid hump, unless the guitar itself is very middy, or something is wrong. Check the wiring, and switch to 500k pots all around. I agree with jeremy with the resistor trick, and working with the pickup height (cheapest solutions first).

Re: Duncan Lil 59 Bridge help

compared to the area pups i can see the lil59 sounding middy and muffled with 250k pots. the area pups that ive tried have been BRIGHT with not much mid range or bottom.

Re: Duncan Lil 59 Bridge help

well the area pickups are kinda muddy . might be the tone cap, i run a .22 orange drop but when i was fiddling with the wiring i accidently deactivated the tone pot for the area pickups and wow what a difference. i had the tone pot connected to the lil 59 also but i took off the tone pot and just ran it with a single 250k volume, sounded ok but no tone rolloff that i like to do
