or, Allparts sells flat pickup rings if you don't want to look at those two empty holes.
I actually just filed down the base of a neck pickup ring from a les Paul so it was even and used that on my Carvin when I replaced bridge pickup.

If you don't want to use Allparts, you can also find rings from WD and/or Stewart-McDonald. I've done the "drill the hole between the two" thing and it works, but it's unsightly to me. You'll probably have to do some filing on the rings, but hey, they're Duncan pickups, and worth a little extra!

man, this is more complicated than I thought. I opened the chamber last night to take a look at the wiring. Carvin neck and bridge humbuckers have different color codes and they are probably different from duncans. I found a diagram in duncan's site for two hums with 1 vol, 1 tone and coil split. It looks nothing like what I saw in my carvin. I am sure I am gonna need some help when I get all the parts. :smack: :smack: :smack:
I want to buy those rings. I took a look at allpart's website. They don't have pictures for all their pickup rings so I don't know if they have what I need in plastic. It looks like they do have them made of metal, which is $50 per pair.(never mind, I found them in wd's website. ring problems are solved)badco33 said:

I have actually just recently done this with the last few months. I wanted to preserve the stock look so I decided to go with the Carvin bezels. First off in the bridge position I would recommend getting a trembucker. Check your string spacing, etc first but trust me on this one. They are not just for guitars with tremolos. On the bridge pickup all I had to do was tap the holes to thread them for the standard size pickup screws. For the standard size neck pickup I had to do a little more work. Using the old pickup as a template I used a punch to mark two holes, drilled them and then tapped them to create threads. It is a tight fit and I had to make a slight "modification" of the legs to get them to fit in the hole and lineup properly with the bezel. I leave you with a caution:
JUST BECAUSE THE WIRES ARE THE SAME COLOR DOESN”T MEAN THEY ARE THE SAME WIRE!
I love Carvin guitars but I found this out the hard way when I my JB in my DC400. Call up Carvin for their wiring diagram explanation and check the schematics for your Duncan.

Yeah putting Duncans in a Carvin is a pain. I've noticed that some Duncans have 3 holes on each side, and those would be ideal, but most have 1.
Also, the holes on the Carvin and aftermarket rings don't line up, so if you don't find the exact fit, you may have to redrill and try to hide any trace of it.
I wonder if you can get rings from Carvin that have 1 hole on each side?
They DO have a Custom Shop, unless it's just a buzz word they thought of one day.

They do make cool guitars and they have a ton of options, but why can't they make me a guitar that already comes with Duncans?
