Duncan return policy and music123?

Hello,

I'm reading the forum for some time now , but didnt post till now.

I was wondering if someone can help me out. I'm geting ready to order some duncan pups from music123.com, and I am in Europe..

What I'm wondering is , will I be able to send back the pup and get another model if I'm not happy? Will I have to send the pup back to music123.com or directly to duncan?

I'm asking this because music123.com are in US, I'm in EU and also music123.com marks all the pups as "non-returnable"...

Thank you in advance...

Alex

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

I'm afraid that the return policy (unless it's defective) only applies to U.S. residents only.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

I'm lucky enough to have friends in the U.S. I can always send them the pickup and they can send it to Duncan.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

Oh ok then....

I'll just have to make my choice more carefull..:)

Thanks,

Alex

You might want to try one of the dealers that frequent this forum. Lew from Lewguitar, or John at Black Rose Custom. They might be able to give you a extended time.

Nope. It applies to "all new pickups purchased in the U.S. and some other participating countries, which states the following:"

In other words, it´s Real simple: If you have problems returning the pickup and are still inside the 21-day time frame, just give SD a call and they´ll give you an RMA number and exchange it for you, assuming you´re nor in Malaysia or somewhere totally out of the ballpark ;)

More info: http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/support/faqdescr.shtml#exchange

And BTW, I ´m not too sure that Music123 can legally "waive" a manufacturer´s exchange policy that easily, either..... ;)

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

hey Alex I wld suggest getting the pup from

hey Alex I wld suggest purchasing the pup from Lew or someone else on the board. I have had a bad experence with those online store( guitarelectronics.com) I ordered a JB from them in the 3rd week of December and the dispatched it onlt last week (YES IAM NOT PULLING A LONG ONE HERE). all the while they were telling me in my emails to them was that they were out of stock and were waiting for shipments from Seymour! today is the 18 of Feb and I am still waiting for it to reach me.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

If you're outside the USA, we would strongly suggest not buying your Seymour Duncan pickups from a USA dealer. The price might look attractive at first blush, but once you factor in sales tax, freight and customs or duty, you're often paying significantly more than would you pay if you bought the pickup from your local music store.

And as far as exchanges for defective or 21 Day... sorry, you're on your own.

What!? Even for defective ones???

It's true. The Duncan warranty and 21 day exchange is supposed to be handled by your local dealer. If you're in Finland and buying from a dealer in the USA in order to pay less than what your local dealer in Finland is charging, the other side of the coin is no warranty and no 21 day exchange.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

Shipping costs alone to replace/exchange pickups and ship them around the world would make the 21 day exchange to expensive to be worthwhile for SD Pickups.

Shipping to Finland via USPS Air Mail Priority with full insurance for a $70. pickup is about $20. So if you returned a pickup it would cost $20 shipping and then another $20 to return another pickup to you.

That's about $40 round trip shipping for an item that probably cost Seymour Duncan Pickups less than that to produce in the first place!

There's no profit in that.

But what I think Duncan Pickups is really doing here is protecting thier dealers in countries other than the USA who have to pay a little more for the product when you factor in shipping and tariffs.

Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

Even though I'm in the USA, I'm glad that Lew clarified that. The way Evan said it, I though he meant that no one in a foriegn country got a warranty.

I see now, he means, if you're in a foriegn country, and buy from the US.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

Thanks a bunch for the info...really usefull..

It's a real shame that I'm all on my own if I order from US..

I'm in Norway, and if you go to the oficial Duncan distributor for Norway web, you can do the conversion and check their prices...

For example, the Invader which I want to get costs 238$!!!!!!!!

So in order to get SH8 with warantie I need to pay 238$ instead of 75$?

lol.....sweet..

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

Yeah Alex i know . Thats why I ordered it from guitarelectronics. Secondly we dont even have an offical dealer here for duncans. So even if I bought it from my local music store I guess i wld not be covered under warranty. So that left me with no other option.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

Thats a lot Alex I know and understand things are eqaly bad out here I wld have to pay something like 125$ out here for the JB.That too from a non autorised dealer as Duncan does not have a dealer out here.

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

I'll just get SH8 from music123 and hopefully it will work for me:)

Re: Duncan return policy and music123?

I can order from europe for 80-90EUR, but it obviously doesnt change the policy since it will not be my local dealer....

So it makes no diference if I order from US or EU...so its no big deal I'll order the pups and get them...

But the more I think about it more it bugs me, how can Duncan be cool about the fact that there is an oficial dealer charging 238$ for a pickup???
