Duncan zebras

It seems duncan zebras have the screw coil in creme, where I was always under the impression the rest of the world (at least my world) thought of zebras as having the black screw coil, and reverse zebras have the creme coil. I almost made the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. I'm just curious if I'm out to lunch or why the good folks at duncan came up with this (to me) reverse terminolgy...and please don' t tell me it's a dimarzio lawsuit thing.....:)

Re: Duncan zebras

thanks. I guess my question is shouldn't the terms be the other way around? I remember reading an article that mentioned that virtually all vintage zebra pafs had the black screw coil. It may seem nit picky, but I just wonder why they chose to switch around the terms like that and if others may have gotten confused.

Re: Duncan zebras

I posted a similar thread as yours a few years ago. Any vintage zebra PAF from Gibson had the Black screw coil. Even the zebras (Schaller or Seymour Duncans) in Kramers in the 80's had the black screw coil. I don't know if Seymour Duncans always classified a zebra as a creme screw coil and a black slug coil for the bridge.

Re: Duncan zebras

I agree, I think of it the same as you. I've grown to like my Zebra in the neck, but I think I'd still want a reverse inthe bridge.
